Dr. Dan Cartwright grew up in Harvey Station, New Brunswick. He completed his BSc degree at UNB before taking a few years off to work and travel through Australia and Asia. After returning to Canada, he furthered his studies, and in 2007, completed his doctorate of veterinary medicine at the Atlantic Veterinary College. His first working experience as a veterinarian was divided between caring for both companion and farm animals at a mixed animal practice in Ontario. In 2010, Dan and his wife, Wendy, moved to New Zealand where he worked in a small animal emergency centre for one and a half years. They moved to New Brunswick in 2011, and he began working for the Valley Veterinary Hospital team soon after.
Dr. Cartwright enjoys many aspects of veterinary practice. He loves the fast-paced, busy environment that emergencies and trauma cases bring, but also loves the client communication side of practice, and getting to know owners and their furry family members.
Dr. Cartwright and his wife live just outside of Fredericton on a small hobby farm stocked with sheep, chickens, a few bee hives, and an ever expanding garden. They’re also in charge of 2 kids, Etta and Ian, and 2 cats, Ron and Jeff.
